Open the official listing and confirm its contract type, grade, primary location, technical requirements, education, experience and language criteria. IAEA job notices specify that the closing date is shown in the applicant’s local time zone, so do not leave submission until the final day.
2Create or update your IAEA candidate profile
Use the IAEA’s Taleo recruitment portal to create a general candidate profile before applying. Record your qualifications, employment history, languages and contact details accurately. The Agency’s recruitment guide recommends creating this profile in advance to speed up applications for future vacancies.
3Submit a role-specific online application before the deadline
Open the particular requisition, complete every required online field and tailor your responses to the stated responsibilities and qualifications. Allow time to review the application rather than treating the profile as a generic CV. The IAEA does not consider applications received after the published closing date.
4Monitor the acknowledgement and prepare for pre-screening
The system acknowledges a submitted application, after which the hiring division reviews it. Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a written assessment, an online recorded video interview, or both. Revisit the vacancy’s technical functions and prepare concise evidence of work that closely matches them.
5Prepare for a competency-based panel interview
Candidates who progress may be invited to a panel interview in Vienna or by video conference. The IAEA uses competency-based interviews, so prepare specific examples showing how your judgement, technical competence, collaboration, integrity and communication produced results in prior roles.
6Complete selection and employment-clearance requirements
Once the selection decision is made, all applicants are informed of their outcome and the selected candidate receives an offer. Following the required employment clearances, the Agency confirms the start date; internationally recruited staff receive relocation and visa assistance before induction and job-specific orientation.
