Job Description

Contributes geospatial data and imagery analysis that supports nuclear safeguards assessments of facilities and infrastructure. The role integrates raster and vector data, develops geospatial products and services, and improves data quality for state evaluation work while collaborating with imagery analysts, the geospatial team, section leadership and departmental users.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Collect and pre-process geospatial data, digitize vector features and generate site plans
  • Produce geospatial and imagery-derived products and services for nuclear safeguards needs
  • Conduct satellite-imagery pre-processing including SAR interferometric products and support analytical reporting
  • Apply quality-control procedures and improve data quality integration and dissemination processes
  • Contribute to integrated analytical products and departmental GIS working groups

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in remote sensing, GIS, geography, environmental science, social sciences, information technology or a related field
  • At least two years of experience in GIS processing and analysis or nuclear fuel-cycle analysis
  • Experience with multisensor imagery including panchromatic, multispectral and radar imagery
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise and geodatabases
  • Excellent oral and written command of English

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of Python scripting
  • Familiarity with GIS and raster file formats including JSON, KMZ, GDB, SQLite, TIF, XML and YAML

  • May be used to create a roster of pre-approved candidates for similar functions
  • Subject to the IAEA rotation policy with a normal maximum tour of service of seven years
