Transparency standard · Draft v1.0

How a vacancy becomes an IGO Jobs listing.

This methodology explains how UN jobs, IGO jobs, NGO vacancies and international development roles are collected, transformed, checked and retired. The official employer notice always remains the source of truth.

1

Collect

43 active public careers sources are checked twice daily.

2

Preserve

Source evidence is retained so published fields remain traceable.

3

Structure

Fields are normalised and summaries are produced from the posting.

4

Publish

Only records that pass required validation gates become visible.

Last updated 1 August 2026 · This methodology may be revised as source coverage and product standards evolve.

01 · Scope

Coverage is source-based, not universal.

IGO Jobs indexes active vacancies from international public-sector and mission-driven employers: UN Secretariat entities, UN funds and programmes, specialised agencies, international financial institutions, intergovernmental organisations, humanitarian organisations and selected international NGOs.

Coverage does not guarantee that every vacancy from every organisation will always appear. Employer pages can change, listings may be withdrawn, and some vacancies may not contain enough public information to publish confidently. The source register names the organisations currently covered, the standard cadence and the recorded agreement status.

02 · Acquisition

Collection starts from the employer-controlled surface.

Collection begins from each organisation’s official public careers page. Structured vacancy data exposed by that page may be used to read the same public information more reliably, but the employer-facing careers page remains the named source.

Standard cadence

Twice daily

Official public careers pages are checked twice each day. Individual sources may occasionally require review.

Source changes

Checked conservatively

A temporary page change or access issue is not treated on its own as proof that every listed role has closed.

IGO Jobs retains sufficient source evidence to trace published information back to the employer notice. Optional employer fields remain empty when absent; they are not invented to make a card look complete.

03 · Narrow definition

“Verified” refers to the most recent sync.

The vacancy and its application destination were confirmed against the employer’s recruitment website during the previous sync.

It requires: the same role or reference on an employer-controlled destination and a working vacancy or application route during the latest completed check.

It does not mean: a scraper found a page, an aggregator returned a record, a URL answered with HTTP 200, or the listing was checked sometime in the past.

If a listing was not confirmed during the most recent sync, it should not carry the Verified label. Unless that label is shown, users should treat the vacancy as indexed and confirm material details on the employer page.

04 · Provenance

The published record contains three kinds of information.

Employer-supplied

Vacancy title, reference number, posting text, employer label, published duty station, grade or level, posting date, closing date, and application destination—when the source provides them.

IGO Jobs normalised

Organisation display name, clean URL, date/time format, city and country spelling, ISO country code, grade code, position category, experience level, engagement type, work arrangement, job area and language tags.

AI-assisted or inferred

Plain-language summary, concise responsibility and requirement lists, skills and tools, and evidence-backed classifications where the employer does not publish a ready-made structured field.

IGO Jobs never infers an unpublished deadline, salary, grade, language requirement or duty station and presents it as employer-supplied. A small number of no-fixed-deadline sources may receive a clearly marked operational review date; it is not described as an application deadline.

05 · Dates & freshness

Date labels describe different events.

IGO Jobs keeps employer publication dates separate from platform freshness dates. When an employer does not provide a date, the missing value is not silently presented as employer-supplied.

Posted on

The publication date stated by the employer. It is shown only when the source provides one.

Synced on

The date the vacancy was first added to IGO Jobs. It may be shown instead of a posted date when the employer does not publish one.

Previous sync

The latest completed check used to confirm whether a vacancy can carry the Verified label. It is a freshness check, not a publication date.

Deadline

The closing date published by the employer. Applicants should always confirm it on the official vacancy page.

Est. deadline

A clearly marked operational estimate used only when the employer does not publish a fixed closing date. It is not an official application deadline.

06 · Enrichment

AI-assisted summaries are evidence-bound and auditable.

AI-assisted enrichment reads the collected vacancy notice under maintained editorial rules. It excludes generic recruitment boilerplate, preserves explicit requirements, leaves unsupported fields empty and produces a short factual summary rather than advice or promotional language.

  1. 01

    Evidence pass

Read the selected source listing’s full posting text and structured employer metadata.

  2. 02

    Controlled output

Apply fixed vocabularies for locations, grades, job areas, experience, position type and languages.

  3. 03

    Validation gate

Check status, completeness, taxonomy consistency, location logic, language evidence and application URL before publication.

Published records pass automated consistency checks. Samples are periodically reviewed by a human to identify improvements, while user-reported feedback, ambiguous evidence and flagged corrections inform both individual fixes and future quality rules.

07 · Personalisation

Match scores are estimates for prioritising a job search.

The purpose of the match score is to make vacancy comparison more manageable and help users make better-informed decisions about where to focus their time. For signed-in users with a completed profile, IGO Jobs compares relevant profile information with the structured vacancy record. This can include experience, skills, languages, education, location preferences and preferred areas of work.

The comparison can surface areas of stronger alignment and flag possible gaps in stated requirements for closer review. These flags are prompts to check the official vacancy notice—not determinations of eligibility—and may not capture equivalent qualifications, transferable experience or information missing from a user’s profile.

Some profile and vacancy signals carry more influence than others. Their relative importance has been shaped by product testing and feedback gathered from more than 1,000 users, and may continue to evolve as the feature is evaluated and improved.

Personal

Tailored to you

The same vacancy can receive a different estimate for different profiles.

Review flags

Check possible gaps

Potential issues in stated requirements are highlighted so they can be reviewed before applying.

Practical use

Prioritise

Use the estimate to organise a shortlist and identify roles worth reviewing more closely.

An estimated match score is not an employer assessment, an eligibility decision or a prediction of interview or selection. A lower score does not mean a person should not apply when they meet the official criteria, and a higher score does not replace careful review of the vacancy notice. It is best used as one directional signal alongside personal judgement and the employer’s published requirements.

08 · Identity

Duplicate detection favours precision over aggressive merging.

IGO Jobs compares employer identifiers, official vacancy references, source destinations and core vacancy details to identify repeated records from the same or overlapping careers pages.

Matches must be supported by multiple consistent signals. If the evidence is weak, listings remain separate rather than risk merging two different roles.

09 · Lifecycle

Deadlines update; ambiguous disappearances do not trigger instant deletion.

Deadline changes

When an employer changes a published deadline, IGO Jobs updates the listing after that change is confirmed in a later sync.

Deadline reached

Vacancies stop appearing as current roles after their published closing point has passed.

Closed early

A vacancy can be removed after a later sync confirms that the employer has closed or withdrawn it.

Uncertain evidence

A temporary source issue or isolated omission is not treated by itself as proof that a vacancy has closed.

Source listings are retained for operational history while useful. Expired published jobs keep their clean canonical record for saved jobs and application tracking, while old raw posting evidence may be purged.

10 · Accountability

Users can send the exact page that needs correction.

Use Contact IGO Jobs and choose Information Correction. Include the IGO Jobs URL, the employer URL, the field that is wrong and, where possible, the correct wording shown by the employer. You can also email [email protected].

Correction requests are retained in the support workflow and applied changes are recorded internally. IGO Jobs does not currently publish a public, item-level correction ledger; this page will say so until one exists.
