Questions
There is no single UN average salary. Professional staff pay depends on grade, step and duty-station post adjustment. For example, the official 2026 P-3 net base scale runs from USD 71,335 at step 1 to USD 92,127 at step 13 before post adjustment.
Post adjustment is a duty-station cost-of-living amount added to the net base salary of internationally recruited Professional and higher-category staff. The calculator applies the official ICSC percentage to the selected net base salary.
The published net base figures are after the UN common system's internal staff assessment. National tax treatment can depend on the employing organization, duty station and staff member's circumstances, so the calculator should not be treated as tax advice.
No. General Service salaries are locally surveyed and published in local-currency scales for individual duty stations. This calculator covers the worldwide Professional and higher categories from P-1 through D-2.
No. Consultants and individual contractors are engaged under different rules and fees are determined by the contract and organization. Their compensation should not be estimated with this staff salary calculator.
No. It estimates net base salary plus post adjustment. Pension, medical insurance, allowances, dependency status, hardship, mobility, rental subsidy and other additions or deductions can change actual net pay.
Compare the estimate with live roles by grade, organization and duty station.
