Job Description

WHO seeks an Epidemiologist in Geneva for its Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases programme. The temporary P-3 role develops applied analytics for malaria and NTD decisions, leads malaria-burden analysis for the World Malaria Report, improves analytical methods and data systems, supports surveillance guidance and capacity building, and coordinates epidemiological evidence.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Design and implement applied analytics that inform malaria and NTD decisions and guidance
  • Produce malaria-burden estimates and household-survey analysis for the World Malaria Report
  • Review and update analytical methods for malaria-burden estimation
  • Prepare analytical outputs and lead analytics sections of the World Malaria Report
  • Develop guidance on using malaria and NTD data for operations, policies and strategies
  • Build collaborations with malaria and NTD analytics partners and support resource mobilisation

Role Requirements

  • First university degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, mathematics, computer science or a related topic
  • At least 5 years of professional experience working in malaria-endemic countries
  • Experience with national malaria or NTD programmes and the policy-making environment in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Experience with survey and routine data collection, management, analysis and use in malaria or NTDs
  • Expert knowledge of English

Desired Criteria

  • Advanced university degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or a related field
  • Experience organising, designing and facilitating workshops
  • Experience managing research projects with multiple actors
  • Intermediate knowledge of French
  • Intermediate knowledge of another UN official language
