Job Description

Strengthens IOM’s Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of the Congo through surveillance at border points of entry and control. The consultant coordinates technical partners, field assessments, reporting and preparedness measures to improve detection, data quality and outbreak response.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Supervise emergency health interventions and teams at IOM-supported points of entry and control
  • Train provincial and local partners on quality assurance for field health activities
  • Coordinate migration-health interventions with technical experts in the Ebola response
  • Conduct field assessments and provide technical support for response improvements
  • Ensure surveillance data are reported through incident-management, EWARS and DHIS 2 systems
  • Prepare epidemiological reports, bulletins and situation reports for the Ebola response
  • Represent IOM in local incident-management coordination meetings
  • Develop emergency-preparedness training for points of entry

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in epidemiology, public health or health sciences
  • At least five years of professional experience in epidemiological surveillance with an outbreak-response focus
  • Fluency in French and English
  • Medical fitness, residency or visa compliance and security clearance for appointment

Desired Criteria

  • Experience responding to outbreaks, preferably Ebola virus disease
