Leads epidemiological and surveillance work for South Africa’s One Health pandemic preparedness project. The specialist supports disease intelligence, laboratory surveillance, technical training, partner missions and evidence-based monitoring for government and project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project surveillance and epidemiological activities
  • Provide disease intelligence and epidemiological analysis
  • Strengthen laboratory surveillance systems and mentor veterinary and laboratory personnel
  • Develop and deliver training on epidemiology, surveillance and response
  • Monitor technical outputs and prepare reports and briefs
  • Coordinate technical inputs with government, FAO and delivery partners

Requirements

  • University degree in veterinary science or epidemiology
  • Registration with a veterinary statutory board
  • At least five years of relevant animal health or production experience
  • Working knowledge of English at level C
  • South African nationality
