Overview

Provides epidemiological leadership for a large humanitarian primary health-care programme, strengthening surveillance, operational research, emergency analysis and results-based management while supporting field health teams, cross-cutting priorities and resource mobilisation.

Responsibilities

  • Support health programme development, implementation monitoring and performance assessment
  • Design operational research studies and guide data collection, analysis, interpretation and dissemination
  • Investigate outbreaks and public health emergencies using epidemiological methods
  • Advise on nutrition, adolescent health, health communication and gender priorities
  • Lead departmental results-based management, annual reporting and emergency framework work
  • Contribute epidemiological expertise to specialist networks and field offices
  • Identify funding opportunities and contribute to grant proposals
  • Support departmental work planning, budgeting and human resources

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in epidemiology, public health, health sciences or a related discipline, or a first-level degree with additional qualifying experience
  • At least five years of national and international experience in epidemiology, research methods, project management, public health emergencies and refugee assistance
  • At least two continuous years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA and outside countries of nationality unless already serving as international UN Common System staff
  • Excellent written and spoken English
