Job Description
The IAEA seeks a Section Head in Vienna to lead soil, water and crop-nutrition work using nuclear techniques. The role manages staff, resources and a results-based subprogramme; directs technique development and validation; advances climate-resilient agriculture and remediation; and provides policy, research and technical-cooperation support to Member States.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Lead the Soil and Water Management and Crop Nutrition Section
- Manage staff, physical resources and financial resources
- Develop the subprogramme budget, goals, priorities and working plan
- Monitor and report subprogramme outputs
- Lead development and validation of nuclear and related techniques
- Provide scientific input to policy and standards development
- Support technical-cooperation and coordinated research projects
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in soil science, agronomy or a related discipline with a nuclear-techniques background
- At least ten years of research and development on soil-plant-water interactions in national and international settings
- Experience leading teams and managing human and financial resources, planning and budgeting
- Excellent oral and written English
Desired Criteria
- PhD in soil science, agronomy or a related field
- Awareness of FAO and IAEA mechanisms including Coordinated Research Projects and Technical Cooperation Projects
- Knowledge of other official IAEA languages
