Job Description
The IAEA seeks an intern in Seibersdorf to support research on environmentally sustainable phytosanitary treatments for fruit flies. The intern will maintain fruit-fly colonies and diets, assist cold-, hot-water and irradiation experiments, dissect infested fruit, record results and perform thermocouple calibration measurements for treatment research at the laboratory.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Maintain fruit-fly colonies for phytosanitary-treatment research
- Prepare larval and adult diets
- Evaluate cold, hot-water and irradiation treatments
- Dissect infested fruit used in treatment experiments
- Record experimental data
- Perform thermocouple calibration measurements
Role Requirements
- University degree in biology or agricultural sciences
- Experience rearing fruit flies of economic importance
- Minimum age of 20 and at least three years of full-time university study toward a first degree
- Good written and spoken English
- No previous participation in the IAEA internship programme
- Two signed letters of recommendation
Desired Criteria
- Fluency in another IAEA official language is an asset
