Young Professional Officer (School Food and Nutrition)

Strengthens the evidence base for nutritious school meals by reviewing assessment methods, designing survey protocols and standardized tools, and supporting multi-country data collection, cleaning and validation. The officer also pilots instruments and coordinates research partners and networks.

• Review methods, tools and indicators for assessing the nutritional quality of school meals
• Support the development of research proposals and survey protocols
• Develop guidelines and adapt standardized tools for nutrition-guideline, menu and procurement analysis
• Coordinate data collection with multiple partner organizations
• Consolidate, clean, validate and document collected data
• Design sampling approaches and standardized data-collection instruments
• Pilot and field-test protocols and tools in selected countries
• Coordinate partners and networks researching school-meal nutritional quality

• Advanced university degree in nutritional sciences, nutritional epidemiology or a related field
• At least one year of nutrition research and data collection and analysis experience
• Experience designing, implementing, analysing or publishing quantitative surveys
• English
• Another FAO official language
• No more than 32 years of age as of 31 December of the application year

• Research experience related to school meals
• Field research and multi-context data-collection experience
• Work experience in more than one location or field position
• Doctoral degree
