How to apply for UN jobs in Uzbekistan
Compare Uzbekistan vacancies on IGOJobs, then apply through the employer's official system. Tashkent's market includes separate UNDP, UNICEF, IOM, UNODC, WHO, FAO, ILO and other platforms; no country-level UN account covers them all.
1Find the official vacancy source
Open the employer's official listing after identifying the role. UNDP Uzbekistan has its own jobs page, UNICEF directs applicants to its global careers system and other agencies maintain separate platforms. Do not send unsolicited CVs to a country office unless the notice expressly invites it.
2Complete the employer-specific application
Create the required profile, complete every mandatory field and submit by the deadline. Each employer controls account, screening and document rules. Save the full notice, including contract and selection criteria, because profiles and uploaded files do not usually transfer across organizations.
3Match languages and evidence to the role
Use the language requested in the vacancy. Uzbek is the state language, Russian is important for many government and partner-facing assignments, and English is common in international roles. UNDP Uzbekistan notes that internships normally require proficiency in at least one, preferably two, of English, Russian and Uzbek. Link qualifications to specific, measurable results.
4Check recruitment pool and authorization conditions
Identify whether the role is international, National Officer, General Service, national consultancy, temporary appointment or project contract. Local roles may require Uzbek citizenship or existing work eligibility. Foreign nationals in ordinary employment need applicable labour-migration authorization and work-entry visa; some international appointments may follow an employer-led route.
5Prepare for assessment and review the offer
Expect written assessments, technical exercises, competency interviews, references and, for regional roles, questions on travel and multi-country coordination. Before relocating, verify employer, duration, salary and benefits, insurance, duty station, Aral Sea or regional travel, visa support and host-state documentation. Never pay a recruitment or visa-processing fee.
Uzbek work visas and sponsor-led status
Foreign nationals in ordinary Uzbek employment need work authorization from the labour-migration authority and a work-entry visa based on it. The employer must obtain applicable authorization; a business or visitor visa does not substitute for local employment status. Eligible IGO staff may instead follow sponsor-led accreditation or visa arrangements. This depends on the organization and appointment, so confirm the route with HR before travelling.

Do I need Uzbekistani nationality for an IGO job?
Not for every role. Internationally recruited appointments may be open externally, whereas National Officer, General Service, national consultancy and other local roles often require Uzbek citizenship or local work eligibility. Are Uzbek, Russian and English required for UN jobs?
It depends on the vacancy. Uzbek is the state language, Russian is important with partners and English is common across international organizations. Follow the required and desired language fields. Will an IGO arrange my Uzbek work authorization?

Can I apply without prior UN experience?
Yes if the description does not require it. Build the application around stated education, technical expertise, language ability and results. Government counterparts, Central Asian cooperation, development programmes, climate, social sectors, monitoring and operations can all be relevant where the notice calls for them.
Do all Uzbekistan employers use one recruitment system?
No. UNDP, UNICEF, IOM, UNODC, WHO, FAO and other employers each use separate systems. Use IGOJobs to locate opportunities, but complete applications in the official portal named in the notice. An account, CV or talent-pool entry from one organization will not normally transfer.
