Job Description

Provides the OSCE Mission to Moldova with military expertise for its conflict-prevention mandate. The post represents the Mission in Joint Control Commission meetings, monitors and investigates regional incidents, develops confidence-building proposals, and advises Mission leadership on military issues while contributing focused political-military reporting.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Represent the Mission at Joint Control Commission meetings
  • Monitor the regional situation and investigate incidents
  • Contribute political-military reporting for the Mission
  • Develop confidence-building proposals for military and security forces
  • Advise Mission leadership and members on military issues
  • Fulfil other duties required to deliver the Mission mandate

Role Requirements

  • Officer or warrant officer training and/or a first-level university degree in a relevant technical field
  • At least six years of relevant professional experience
  • Military officer rank of Lieutenant Colonel, with Major accepted depending on experience
  • Professional oral and written fluency in English and Russian
  • Valid category B and C driving licences
  • Nationals and permanent residents of the duty-station country are ineligible for international mission member positions

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of regional political-military history and recent mission-area developments
  • Experience with CSBMs, CFE and the Vienna Document
  • Experience in international or operational missions
  • Previous OSCE experience
  • Experience working in former CIS countries
