Job Description

Designs and delivers joint operational wargames that inform NATO assessment, planning and mission rehearsal, translating customer requirements into scenarios, simulation support, doctrine, tools and reusable knowledge while connecting military headquarters, industry and academia.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Design, analyse and execute joint operational wargames
  • Identify customer requirements and translate them into wargame designs
  • Support operations planning, exercise planning and mission rehearsal through simulation
  • Develop NATO wargaming doctrine, policy and supporting tools
  • Build wargaming training, education and professional development
  • Connect JFC Naples with NATO, national, industry and academic wargaming communities
  • Maintain a reusable wargame library and knowledge base
  • Coordinate procurement of commercial wargames, tools and consumables
  • Support trials of enhanced joint assessment and analysis capabilities

Role Requirements

  • University degree in operations research, mathematics, statistics, computer science or a related numerate discipline with two years of related experience, or higher secondary education with advanced vocational qualification and four years of related experience
  • Experience conducting operational analysis for complex operational problems
  • Experience planning and conducting military wargames in a national or NATO context
  • Experience with military modelling, simulation, computer systems and related applications
  • English proficiency at NATO SLP 3333
  • Nationality of a NATO member country
  • Eligibility for NATO security clearance and medical approval

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of NATO operations-planning and operations-assessment processes
  • Experience in a NATO or national military headquarters
  • Knowledge of joint or combined operations
  • Recognition by a relevant professional body
  • Participation in NATO training and exercises
  • NATO Wargaming Practitioner or Alternative Analysis training
