Staff Assistant (2030 OPFOR Non-Linear Expert 1)

Shapes hybrid and non-linear adversary effects for NATO collective training, advising exercise leaders, developing Russian-doctrine-based campaigns and threat networks, leading OPFOR experts, training staff and maintaining liaison with specialists to strengthen operational readiness against complex threats.

Department: Joint Warfare Centre – RIVAL Division

• Advise exercise teams on non-linear warfare scenarios, wargames and collective training
• Develop hybrid campaigns, manoeuvre schemes and threat networks based on adversary doctrine
• Lead non-linear warfare experts during Joint Warfare Centre exercises
• Train OPFOR Branch and wider Joint Warfare Centre personnel
• Maintain current expertise through workshops and individual training events
• Build liaison networks with subject-matter experts across NATO structures
• Integrate physical, virtual and cognitive hybrid effects into exercise products

• Higher secondary education plus higher vocational training in a relevant field and three years of related experience, or secondary education plus advanced vocational training and five years of related experience
• Previous staff-officer or equivalent civilian intelligence experience at two-star, joint, multi-domain, NATO Command or NATO Force Structure headquarters in the G2 or J2 domain
• At least three years of experience representing Russian non-linear warfare and use of terrorism, espionage, sabotage, subversion and organized crime for political aims
• Operational experience leading teams that collect or analyse hybrid threats
• Upper-intermediate English
• Nationality of a NATO Member State

• Project-linked NATO civilian post with a three-year definite-duration contract
• Temporary-duty travel and irregular hours may be required during exercises and events
• Candidates holding a current NATO or national security clearance receive priority consideration
