Political Affairs Officer

Analyses conflict-related sexual violence, advises peacekeeping missions and supports policy, training and coordination for the Department of Peace Operations. The role converts political developments, legal frameworks and lessons learned into guidance, reporting and action that strengthens prevention and response.

• Analyse information on conflict-related sexual violence from diverse sources
• Monitor political developments and advise field missions on their impact
• Develop and roll out training and guidance for the DPO mandate
• Draft analysis, reports, studies and lessons learned
• Coordinate with UN partners, international organisations and governments
• Support evaluations and technical assistance missions

• Advanced degree in political science, international relations, international economics, law, public administration or a related field
• At least five years of relevant professional experience
• At least two years leading or coordinating prevention and response to conflict-related sexual violence
• Experience developing training and guidance on conflict-related sexual violence
• At least two years of international experience in women, peace and security or conflict-related sexual violence
• English at UN Level III
