Job Description
Monitors political, security and humanitarian developments for the United Nations Operations and Crisis Centre's Watch Room. The officer synthesises information from missions and open sources, produces situational reports and briefings, supports crisis-response procedures and connects headquarters with field presences to strengthen real-time awareness and coordinated decision-making during fast-changing events.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Monitor political, security, humanitarian and human-rights developments across mission and non-mission settings
- Gather and interpret information from open-source media, field missions and Member States
- Track security conditions in assigned areas and communicate developments with peacekeeping missions
- Draft daily situational-awareness reports and support crisis-management procedures
- Prepare presentations, briefings and reports using visual tools
- Update maps of UN field missions using cartographic and information systems
- Research and draft reports on political and operational issues
- Facilitate crisis and emergency procedures and act as Watch Officer on a rotational basis
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in political science, history, international relations, journalism and media or a related field, or a first-level degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
- At least two years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, political science, international relations or a related area
- Direct crisis-management support experience
- English is required
