Job Description
Analyses emerging science and technology trends and their military implications to inform NATO capability development and senior decision-making. The officer produces tailored assessments, reports and briefing material, collaborates with military commands, armaments and policy stakeholders, and supports the Chief Scientist's evidence-based advice on disruptive technologies, defence planning and the Alliance's technological advantage.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Identify and analyse science and technology trends for STO Tech Trends reports
- Deliver reports on the military impact of emerging and disruptive technologies
- Support capability-requirement setting through NATO defence planning and warfare-development work
- Prepare reports and materials for senior military leadership and the Chief Scientist
- Support armaments-community capability-development and delivery work
- Draft papers, reports and speaking notes for NATO officials, committees and ministerials
- Collaborate with and supervise analysis officers on relevant tasks
- Support the Branch Head's liaison with the International Military Staff
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree or national military equivalent in a scientific, technical, engineering or mathematical discipline relevant to defence or security
- At least 3 years of experience in defence and security policy or operational analysis
- At least 3 years of experience in science or technology research or policy development
- Broad operational knowledge of military technology and defence capabilities
- Very good knowledge of English or French and good knowledge of the other official NATO language
- Nationality of a NATO member country
Desired Criteria
- Experience in operational research and analysis
- Experience in an international and multinational environment
- Knowledge of NATO policies, procedures and working methods
- Practical management experience in planning, programming and budgeting
- Postgraduate degree or military staff college
- French language knowledge
