Summary of Responsibilities
- Conduct theoretical research on elementary particle physics and develop original scientific contributions
- Initiate and participate in activities across the Theoretical Physics Department
- Collaborate with experimental physicists so theoretical work informs CERN’s experimental programme
- Contribute to CERN committees and scientific study groups
- Maintain active relationships with the external theoretical-physics community
- Support CERN scientific training programmes and promote scientific events on site
Role Requirements
- PhD or equivalent relevant experience in theoretical physics or a related field
- Demonstrated postdoctoral research resulting in publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Evidence of the ability to make significant contributions to CERN’s scientific work
- Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language
- Applicants who previously held a CERN Staff contract are not eligible

- Limited-duration staff contracts are expected to run for 60 months
