Job Description

Supports UNIDIR's Integrated Approaches – Gender and Disarmament Programme with research and programme delivery. The graduate professional helps plan meetings, workshops, conferences and field missions, contributes communications and coordination, and turns policy-relevant research on gender, youth, arms control and disarmament into practical support for multilateral practitioners.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Conduct background research for the Integrated Approaches – Gender and Disarmament Programme
  • Assist with planning and implementation of meetings, workshops, conferences and field missions
  • Contribute to communication, coordination and administrative tasks for the Programme
  • Support Programme staff with other required tasks

Role Requirements

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate programme or have graduated with a second university degree and commence the programme within one year of graduation
  • Computer literacy in standard software applications, including Microsoft Office and graphic-design tools such as Canva or InDesign
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Demonstrated keen interest in United Nations work and commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter

Desired Criteria

  • Postgraduate qualifications relevant to gender, youth and disarmament, including international relations, political science, international law or gender studies
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in conventional arms control
  • Knowledge of another official UN language
