Summary of Responsibilities
- Formulate political-affairs strategies and policy directives for security and technology
- Plan and manage programme projects, activities and operational delivery
- Prepare briefing notes and talking points for the Institute Director
- Advise Member States, United Nations bodies and research communities through workshops
- Lead research on disarmament, strategic security, cybersecurity and new technologies
- Manage staff, recruitment, budgets, funding and programme reporting
- Represent UNIDIR at round tables, seminars and conferences
Role Requirements
- Master’s degree in political science, international relations, international economics, law, public administration or a related field, or first-level degree with qualifying experience
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in political science, international relations, law, disarmament, security or related areas
- At least 5 years of international policy experience on security and technology
- Record of publishing on disarmament, arms control and international security
- Fluency in English
- Complete BSAFE and mandatory UN trainings
Desired Criteria
- Experience in data analytics or a related area
- Knowledge of another UN official language
