About UNOPS
UNOPS is the operational arm of the United Nations. It helps partners implement peacebuilding, humanitarian and development projects through project management, procurement, infrastructure, financial management and human-resources services. Rather than owning a single programme mandate, UNOPS brings delivery capability to governments, UN entities, donors and other partners working toward the Sustainable Development Goals.

Working with UNOPS
UNOPS is a distinctive place to work because its product is delivery. The organization supports partners that need projects implemented well: a health facility built, essential equipment procured, a portfolio brought under control, a supply chain managed or a major programme moved from design to accountable execution. That makes project managers, engineers, procurement professionals, finance specialists, HR practitioners, contract managers and operations colleagues central to the mission rather than peripheral support functions.
Why Work at UNOPS?
Deliver projects people can use
Turn partner commitments into infrastructure, services, procurement and well-managed programmes.
Build deep operational expertise
Develop project, contract, supply-chain and finance skills in complex delivery environments.
See a direct line to results
Work close to the decisions, systems and partners that make implementation happen.
How to Apply for UNOPS Jobs
Once you find a suitable UNOPS vacancy on IGO Jobs or the UNOPS careers page, submit your application through UNOPS's official recruitment portal. Below is a guide on how to apply.
Official UNOPS application route โ1Identify the exact contract and delivery context
Review the project background, functional responsibilities, contract type, level, duration, duty station and education, experience and language requirements. UNOPS positions can be short- or long-term and may use an Individual Contractor Agreement, so do not assume staff benefits or mobility from the title alone.
2Create a UNOPS Jobs account on the official platform
Use the official jobs platform to register. UNOPS says the profile includes personal information, education, experience, languages, skills and other information. You can save it and return to it; unsolicited rรฉsumรฉs are not accepted as an alternative to applying through the advertised vacancy.
3Make the profile factual and vacancy-specific
Map your past work to the functional responsibilities in the notice. UNOPS advises candidates to update the profile regularly, state achievements and results, and avoid copying the full responsibilities section into the application. For delivery roles, give usable evidence of scope, quality, cost, schedule, risk and stakeholder management.
4Use a concise cover letter where it adds value
UNOPS strongly recommends a cover letter. Keep it to about one page and two or three paragraphs, explaining motivation and the contribution you could make to that specific role. Check grammar and make sure the letter adds interpretation rather than repeating the online employment history.
5Submit or update before midnight CET
All UNOPS vacancies close at midnight CET. You may update a submitted application until the deadline by signing in, opening My applications and selecting Update application. Check the submitted version, contact details and attachments before the closure time and retain your application record.
6Treat roster recruitment as a separate assessed pathway
For a roster, apply to the right pool by its deadline and expect panel review, role-specific assessments, at least two recent-reference checks and independent-committee review. Successful candidates become roster members; they may be considered for relevant future vacancies, rather than receiving an automatic placement.
Recruitment safety: No. UNOPS states it will never request payment at any stage of an assessment or recruitment process. Its jobs page also warns about fraudulent emails and says valid organizational emails end in @unops.org. Verify a vacancy through the official platform, and never provide money or sensitive financial information in response to an alleged job offer.

Frequently asked questions about UNOPS careers
Where do I apply for UNOPS jobs?+
Apply through the official UNOPS Jobs platform, linked from the UNOPS jobs page. Create an account and complete the profile with personal information, education, experience, languages and skills. UNOPS does not accept unsolicited rรฉsumรฉs. Its current jobs page says the new careers platform is live while the former platform remains available during transition.
Can I revise a submitted UNOPS application?+
Yes, until the deadline. UNOPS instructs candidates to log in to their profile, open My applications and select Update application. All vacancies close at midnight CET, so make substantive revisions before that time. Review the role-specific version carefully; a generic profile or copied job-description text does not show the achievements UNOPS assesses.
What is a UNOPS roster?+
A roster is a pool of candidates assessed in advance for business-critical roles. If accepted, you can be considered first for relevant external recruitment needs, but roster membership is not a job offer. UNOPS says the process can include role-specific assessments, reference checks and an independent committee review, and membership can last up to three years.
What should a strong UNOPS profile demonstrate?+
Describe results, not only duties. Connect the functional responsibilities to evidence from your experience: projects delivered, procurements completed, infrastructure quality, budgets or schedules managed, risks resolved and partners coordinated. UNOPS explicitly advises applicants not to paste the vacancy text into their profile. A concise, role-specific cover letter can clarify your motivation and fit.
Does UNOPS charge any recruitment fee?+
No.
