Job Description

UNRWA seeks a vocational training instructor to lead central heating and plumbing learning programmes in Damascus. The role supports curriculum design, practical and workplace learning, learner assessment, employer engagement and the integration of safety, green and digital skills. It applies UNRWA quality processes and maintains an orderly, inclusive and safe training environment.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Draft programme profiles, learning guides and manuals for central heating and plumbing specialisations
  • Arrange training venues and use facilities and equipment for practical technical instruction
  • Support trainees with disabilities and special learning needs through adult-learning strategies
  • Conduct formative and summative assessments using practice-based and knowledge-based skills tests
  • Collect labour-market information and conduct skills-needs and trainee-trace assessments
  • Maintain safe, orderly learning environments and report occupational safety incidents and risks

Role Requirements

  • Full secondary education plus two years of post-secondary technical education or training in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Power, HVAC, Central Heating, Plumbing or a related field
  • No experience is required
  • English is required
  • Residence in Syria within commuting distance of the duty station and authorisation to work there

  • Daily paid assignment for up to three months with possible extension
  • Only candidates residing in Syria within commuting distance of the duty station and authorised to work there are eligible
  • One day of annual leave and one day of sick leave accrue for each completed month of service
