Job Description

Supports UNRWA technical and vocational education and training for assistant-chef learners in Lattakia. The instructor prepares inclusive training environments and lessons, delivers school- and work-based learning, creates practical assessments, connects training to employers and labour-market needs, and embeds quality assurance, safety, digital learning and green skills in culinary training.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support development of learning programmes, curricula, profiles, guides and manuals for the culinary specialisation
  • Set up training venues and prepare inclusive lessons for school-based and work-based learning
  • Facilitate and monitor learning in classrooms, laboratories, workshops and workplaces
  • Prepare formative and summative assessments, skills tests, assessment grids and inclusive implementation plans
  • Maintain employer and instructor links and use labour-market evidence to identify training skills needs
  • Apply UNRWA TVET quality-assurance tools across the training cycle
  • Support green and digital learning activities and occupational health and safety measures at the centre

Role Requirements

  • Full secondary education plus two years of post-secondary technical education or training in Cooking and Culinary Arts
  • No experience is required
  • English and Arabic at UN Level II
  • Residence in Syria within commuting distance of the duty station and authorisation to work there at application

Desired Criteria

  • Registered Palestine refugee status is preferred
  • Candidates of the underrepresented gender are preferred

  • Daily Paid Assignment for up to three months, subject to funds, performance and continuing need
  • One day of annual leave and one day of sick leave for each completed month of service
