Job Description
UNEP seeks a Regional Biodiversity Specialist to advance its Nature Action Subprogramme in Latin America and the Caribbean. The consultant will provide technical coordination, stakeholder engagement, intergovernmental support, knowledge management and resource mobilisation. The assignment supports biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, regional commitments and partnerships.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Serve as regional technical focal point for biodiversity and ecosystem matters
- Support implementation of the Nature Action Subprogramme and Regional Action Plan on Ecosystem Restoration
- Develop concepts and proposals and contribute to resource mobilisation
- Build partnerships with UN agencies, governments, academia and civil society
- Support biodiversity working groups and the Forum of Ministers of Environment
Role Requirements
- Bachelor degree in biodiversity, environmental sciences, sustainable development, management, international relations or related field
- At least 3 years of experience in environmental affairs
- Experience in biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration or sustainable use of natural resources
- Fluency in English and Spanish
Desired Criteria
- Master degree in a listed field
- Experience in the United Nations system or another international organization
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, partnership-building or intergovernmental processes
- Knowledge of Portuguese
