Job Description

Supports UNEP’s Latin America and Caribbean climate projects on carbon markets, Article 6 and green hydrogen. The home-based consultant reviews technical and financial outputs, analyses procurement and project progress, coordinates consultants and stakeholders, supports concept notes and completion reporting, and translates energy, finance and policy evidence into practical recommendations.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Review technical products and provide inputs on carbon markets and Article 6
  • Compile information on private-sector stakeholders and potential Article 6 initiatives
  • Review technical reports, prefeasibility studies and concept notes for green-hydrogen projects
  • Coordinate comments and follow-up with consulting firms and stakeholders
  • Estimate the impact of collaboration with the H2LAC platform
  • Support project managers to compile, review and organise completion-reporting and closure documentation

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, engineering, economics, finance, administration, political science, international relations or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in climate-change projects, engineering, environmental sciences, environmental economics, energy, sustainable finance, climate policy or economic research
  • Fluency in Spanish and English

Desired Criteria

  • Master’s degree in engineering, public policy, economics, energy systems or natural-resource management
  • Data processing and analysis experience
  • Budget-planning and procurement-terms-of-reference experience
  • Donor progress and completion-reporting experience
  • Low-emission hydrogen, GCF-project or carbon-market experience
