Job Description
Leads implementation of UNDP Algeria’s project to improve methane-emissions monitoring and assess green-hydrogen opportunities for SONATRACH. The coordinator plans technical activities, supervises consultants and providers, manages results, budgets and safeguards, and convenes government, donor and industry partners to deliver sound climate-transition evidence, reporting and capacity development.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Manage daily project implementation under the approved project document
- Coordinate technical activities on methane reduction, MRV systems and green-hydrogen analysis
- Supervise consultants and service providers and assure the quality of technical deliverables
- Implement monitoring, evaluation and learning against indicators and prepare reports
- Maintain project risk registers and environmental and social safeguards compliance
- Coordinate technical training and knowledge-sharing with SONATRACH
- Liaise with SONATRACH, ministries, UK-FCDO and UNDP operational units
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in environmental science, energy, political science, international relations or a related field, or a first-level degree with two additional qualifying years
- Relevant professional experience in national or international development-project management
- Fluency in French and Arabic
Desired Criteria
- Knowledge of Algeria’s energy transition and decarbonisation context
- Experience managing donor-funded projects
- Knowledge of methane emissions and MRV technologies
- Experience coordinating public enterprises, private-sector actors and ministries
- Practical English knowledge
