Job Description

Oversees UNDP’s Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme in Yemen, directing the country portfolio of community-based environmental grants. The coordinator manages programme staff, budgets and project selection, monitors grantee delivery and results, builds partnerships and co-financing, and supports knowledge exchange, reporting and capacity building for biodiversity, climate and natural-resource action.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Small Grants Programme team and implement annual workplans and budgets
  • Manage grant allocations, operating budgets and compliance with programme procedures
  • Oversee project concept development, selection, monitoring visits and technical support to grantees
  • Coordinate National Steering Committee processes and link grants with government and partner initiatives
  • Develop partnerships, co-financing and resource-mobilisation strategies
  • Document results and lessons learned and facilitate knowledge exchange among grantees

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in Environmental or Natural Resource Management, Economics, Public Policy, Law, Environmental Economics or Management, Business Administration or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
  • At least two years of professional experience with a master’s degree, or four years with a bachelor’s degree, managing environmental or natural-resource-management initiatives
  • Experience using office software and web-based management systems
  • Fluency in English and Arabic

  • Progressively responsible project or programme-management experience
  • Experience designing, managing or monitoring UNDP or development programmes
  • Experience in Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme thematic areas
  • Knowledge of UNDP strategic programmes and operational policies
  • Experience liaising with NGOs, civil-society organisations and government
