Job Description
Leads and supports WHO’s emergency public-health response in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, focusing on North Kivu, South Kivu and Ituri. The role assesses health risks and service gaps, coordinates authorities and humanitarian partners, and uses field evidence to guide integrated interventions, continuity of care and outbreak response for crisis-affected communities.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Assess public-health risks, health-service functionality and priority needs of crisis-affected populations
- Coordinate national and provincial authorities, WHO teams, Health Cluster partners and humanitarian actors on public-health response activities
- Analyse health risks, service gaps, vulnerabilities and response capacities to advise on priority interventions
- Support evidence-based emergency health, outbreak-response and continuity-of-care interventions
- Compile surveillance, displacement and field-assessment data to inform operational decisions
- Prepare situation reports, donor reports, operational plans and health information products
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in public health or a health-related field
- At least seven years of national and international experience in public-health emergency response or health-sector coordination
- Experience managing outbreaks and health emergencies or the health consequences of emergencies and crises
- Expert French and intermediate English
Desired Criteria
- Doctorate in medicine
- Specialised training in public-health emergency response or disaster management
- Diploma in tropical medicine or disaster management
- Experience with WHO, UN agencies, Health Cluster partners or humanitarian organisations
- Experience in resource mobilisation in emergency settings
