Job Description

Leads IFRC health support for the Ebola response in Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Working with the Operations Manager and Society, the coordinator analyses epidemiological evidence, sets response priorities, leads health assessments and outbreak strategy, coordinates authorities and partners, oversees quality delivery and preparedness, and strengthens national capacity.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead rapid and ongoing health assessments and identify response gaps
  • Update epidemiological risk analysis and scenario planning
  • Develop and revise the outbreak response strategy
  • Harmonize IFRC health plans with Ministry of Health and WHO guidance
  • Lead monitoring of epidemiological data and disease patterns
  • Provide technical leadership for health activities and quality assurance
  • Coordinate with authorities, WHO, Africa CDC, UN and partner agencies
  • Recruit, train and supervise health staff

Role Requirements

  • Professional certification in a health discipline
  • Postgraduate degree in public health
  • At least seven years of relevant professional experience
  • Five to seven years of health programme-management experience
  • Experience collaborating with national health authorities or WHO
  • Fluent spoken and written English and French

Desired Criteria

  • Red Cross Red Crescent Movement experience is preferred
  • Previous Ebola response experience is preferred
  • Spanish or Arabic language ability is preferred
