Job Description

Leads IFRC's regional preparedness and response coordination for the Bundibugyo Virus Disease outbreak. The coordinator directs emergency operations with National Societies and partners, aligns technical and operational resources, manages performance and risk, supports resource mobilisation, and represents IFRC in regional decision-making and epidemic-response forums.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Coordinate IFRC support to National Societies and delegations delivering BVD preparedness, readiness and response
  • Lead regional operational coordination through the Emergency Response Framework and established task forces
  • Analyse operational performance and recommend adaptations to regional response strategies
  • Direct planning, resource allocation and surge support for Emergency Appeal implementation
  • Mobilise resources and liaise with donors, Movement partners and humanitarian stakeholders
  • Monitor operational budgets, risks, compliance and Emergency Appeal performance
  • Represent IFRC in regional coordination mechanisms and technical forums
  • Lead regional surge personnel and support their performance and development

Role Requirements

  • University degree in a relevant area
  • At least eight years of relevant professional experience in disaster management
  • Experience leading and coordinating large-scale humanitarian emergency response operations
  • At least five years of staff-management experience
  • Fluent spoken and written English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in health emergencies or Ebola response
  • Senior management, consulting or facilitation experience in organisational development
  • Relevant work experience in the regional context
