Job Description

Supports IFRC regional health programming across the Americas, providing technical assistance to National Societies on epidemic readiness, emergency health, community health and resilience. The officer develops training and guidance, monitors health operations, contributes to projects and knowledge products, and promotes integrated interventions that strengthen local health capacity.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Monitor epidemiological trends and advise on health-emergency interventions
  • Support health risk, readiness and early-action assessments
  • Support National Societies to implement emergency and community-health programmes
  • Develop technical guidance, training materials and capacity-building activities
  • Coordinate and facilitate health trainings for staff and volunteers
  • Contribute health proposals, reporting, project support and compliance reviews
  • Maintain health knowledge resources, focal-point databases and lessons learned

Role Requirements

  • Medical degree or professional nursing degree
  • Specialisation or postgraduate diploma in Public Health, Community Health, Epidemiology or a related field
  • 5 years of Public Health or Emergency Health experience
  • Fluent written and spoken Spanish
  • Strong working knowledge of English
  • Valid passport and ability to travel at short notice

Desired Criteria

  • Master's degree in Public Health or a related field
  • Experience within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Resource mobilisation and partnership-development experience
