Tobacco Control Public Health Officer

Provides WHO Kenya with technical leadership and programme support to accelerate comprehensive tobacco-control implementation. The officer supports policy, regulatory and legislative measures; strengthens national coordination, surveillance, research, laboratory and cessation services; builds national and county capacity; promotes alternative livelihoods; and prepares technical briefs, reports.

• Support tobacco-control policy strategy regulation and legislation
• Coordinate national and multi-sectoral tobacco-control engagement
• Strengthen tobacco surveillance surveys data analysis and FCTC reporting
• Support the tobacco-products reference laboratory
• Support integrated tobacco-cessation services
• Build national and county capacity and prepare advocacy and donor documents

• Bachelor degree in public health medicine epidemiology health policy health promotion global health health economics or related discipline
• At least five years of public-health experience including three years in tobacco control NCD prevention health policy or public-health programme management
• Policy analysis programme planning implementation monitoring evaluation and public-health-intervention coordination experience
• English expertise

• Master degree or training in tobacco control NCD prevention public policy health law or implementation science
• UN international-organization or development-partner experience
• Legislative policy multi-sectoral-coordination or normative-document experience
• Digital-surveillance and electronic-health-information-system experience
• Kenya devolved health-system experience
• Kiswahili working knowledge
