Job Description

Provides senior technical cooperation to Haiti's health authorities on preventing, controlling and managing communicable and noncommunicable diseases. The role strengthens surveillance, laboratory and response systems, supports emergency preparedness and national policy, and coordinates programme delivery, capacity building and technical representation with national and international partners.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provide technical cooperation on prevention, surveillance and response for communicable diseases including HIV, tuberculosis, malaria and zoonotic diseases
  • Strengthen national early-warning, laboratory, diagnostic and response systems through data collection, analysis and dissemination
  • Support emergency preparedness, outbreak response and national communicable-disease policies aligned with PAHO/WHO guidance
  • Provide technical support for noncommunicable-disease prevention, surveillance and integration into primary health care
  • Plan, coordinate, monitor and report programme activities, work-plan implementation, resource use and capacity-building initiatives
  • Prepare technical and policy documents and represent PAHO/WHO in technical meetings, coordination platforms and stakeholder consultations

Role Requirements

  • University degree and master's degree in public health, medicine, epidemiology, health sciences or a related field
  • Nine years of combined national and international professional public-health experience including programme design, implementation and evaluation
  • Fluency in French or English with working knowledge of the other language
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, presentations, enterprise resource planning and management information systems
