Summary of Responsibilities
- Coordinate WHO Health Emergencies programme at country level
- Provide technical guidance to national authorities on all-hazard preparedness and response
- Guide emergency risk management IHR risk assessment and infectious-hazard management
- Lead gap analyses and national multi-hazard preparedness and response planning
- Prepare national risk profiles and map health risks vulnerable populations and needs
- Identify resource needs mobilize partners and oversee IHR core-capacity strengthening
- Advise on emergency health-care systems and represent WHO in emergency forums
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in medicine epidemiology public health or relevant field
- At least ten years in public health and epidemic or emergency preparedness and response including substantial international experience
- Experience strengthening country capacity and emergency and disaster response
- Experience facilitating multisectoral partnerships for health policy and emergency interventions
- Expert English

- Training in applied epidemiology
- United Nations funds and programmes experience
- Consensus building and cooperation with diverse national stakeholders
- Intermediate Arabic
