Job Description
Leads maternity services in MSF field projects, supervising local teams and providing safe antenatal, delivery, postnatal, family-planning and newborn care. The midwife manages obstetric emergencies, infection prevention, pharmacy and equipment controls, clinical records and support for survivors of sexual violence.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach and evaluate midwives, assistants and maternity support staff
- Plan staffing, schedules, coverage, leave and task allocation across maternity services
- Oversee antenatal care, deliveries, postnatal follow-up, family planning and newborn vaccination
- Manage complicated deliveries and coordinate specialised cases with medical doctors
- Enforce hygiene, infection-prevention and biohazard protocols
- Ensure safe use, cleaning, maintenance and fault reporting for medical devices and equipment
- Monitor maternity pharmacy stock, consumption and medical-equipment maintenance
- Maintain patient records and monthly reports and ensure appropriate care for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence
Role Requirements
- Recognised midwifery diploma
- At least two years of relevant post-qualification professional experience, including at least six months of clinical midwifery in the previous two years
- Experience managing teams and providing training, coaching and supervision
- Hands-on experience managing major obstetric emergencies and complicated deliveries, abortion care, contraception and medical care for survivors of sexual violence
- Ability to work independently in caring for women and infants
- Experience living and working in low- or middle-income countries
- Willingness to work in unstable and insecure areas and remain on call for difficult births
- English proficiency at B2 level
- Availability for at least nine months
Desired Criteria
- Global-health or tropical-nursing diploma is a strong asset
- Paediatric, emergency-room, sexual and reproductive health or SGBV specialisation is an asset
- Family-planning, community-midwifery, infectious-disease or sexual-assault-care experience is an asset
- French and Arabic proficiency are assets

- Field assignments may involve rural maternity units, hospitals, conflict zones or programmes for survivors of sexual violence
