Job Description

UNICEF seeks two Nutrition Officers to provide technical, operational and administrative support for nutrition programmes in Sri Lanka. The posts contribute across development planning, implementation, progress monitoring, evaluation and reporting, helping deliver evidence-based interventions and strengthen relationships, learning and capacity with programme staff, partners and stakeholders.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support nutrition programme development and planning
  • Support programme management, monitoring and delivery of results
  • Provide technical and operational support to nutrition programme implementation
  • Build networks and partnerships for nutrition objectives
  • Support innovation, knowledge management and capacity building

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent first-level university degree in nutrition, public health, health sciences or a related health field
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in nutrition, public health, nutrition planning and management, or maternal, infant and child health and nutrition care
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge of maternal, infant, young child, adolescent and public-health nutrition
  • Proficiency in English
  • Open to Sri Lankan nationals only

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language, Sinhala or Tamil
  • Experience designing, implementing, monitoring or evaluating nutrition programmes
  • Experience using nutrition evidence from surveys, assessments, reviews, research or monitoring systems for programme and policy decisions
  • Experience working with government institutions and multi-sector stakeholders to strengthen nutrition policies, systems and service delivery
  • Knowledge of Sri Lanka’s nutrition, health and public-sector systems
