Job Description
The mechanical technical engineer will support the LHC upgrade by preparing, testing and commissioning critical beam-vacuum equipment. The role performs acceptance and leak testing, residual-gas analysis and ultra-high-vacuum assembly, while maintaining technical records and coordinating suppliers to deliver reliable equipment for tunnel installation and operation.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Perform vacuum acceptance testing of components for the HL-LHC collimator upgrade
- Test and validate vacuum equipment and undertake residual gas analysis
- Carry out leak tests, bake-out installation and non-evaporable-getter activation
- Assemble and prepare mechanical and vacuum systems for installation and operation
- Support installation, testing and commissioning for the LHC upgrade programme
- Prepare test reports and intervention records
- Coordinate suppliers and support procurement and delivery of technical components
- Participate in maintenance, upgrades and repairs in the LHC tunnel
Role Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in the respective field
- Maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in the respective field
- Nationality of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State
- Valid driving licence
- Ability to work in radiation areas and underground installations
