Job Description

ITU seeks a Radiocommunication Engineer in Geneva to analyse satellite-frequency assignments and support spectrum and orbit regulation. The two-year P-3 project post examines notices, formulates recommendations, updates the Master International Frequency Register, develops processing software and criteria, assists administrations, and supports radiocommunication conferences and training.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Study spectrum use and geostationary and non-geostationary orbit assignments
  • Analyse frequency-assignment notices, regulatory data and due-diligence information
  • Formulate findings and recommendations and review the Master International Frequency Register
  • Develop technical criteria, calculation methods and processing software
  • Assist administrations on frequencies and orbits for space radiocommunication services
  • Support conference, assembly, seminar and training preparation

Role Requirements

  • Advanced degree in telecommunications or radiocommunications engineering, science or electrical or electronic engineering
  • At least five years of experience in satellite communications, frequency-spectrum management or satellite-frequency coordination, including two years internationally
  • Experience with scientific and engineering computer applications, relational databases, SQL and programming languages
  • Advanced knowledge of one ITU official language and intermediate knowledge of a second official language

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of ITU Radio Regulations is an asset
  • Doctorate may substitute for two years of experience
  • The first-degree substitution is available only to internal candidates
