Job Description

ITU seeks an Associate Radiocommunication Engineer in Geneva to examine satellite-network notices and support space radiocommunication regulation. The two-year P-2 project post processes electronic filings, prepares findings, conducts technical studies, helps develop satellite-network processing software, assists administrations, and supports radiocommunication conferences, seminars and training.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Examine satellite-network notices and prepare findings and recommendations
  • Process electronic satellite-network notices through the internal processing system
  • Conduct studies related to Rules of Procedure and prepare technical correspondence
  • Handle assistance requests and conduct specific technical studies
  • Identify software-development requirements and participate in software testing
  • Support preparatory work for conferences, seminars and training

Role Requirements

  • University degree in telecommunications or radiocommunications engineering, science or electrical or electronic engineering
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience in radiocommunication, satellite engineering or spectrum management
  • Familiarity with relational databases, SQL and engineering-application development
  • Advanced knowledge of one ITU official language and intermediate knowledge of a second official language

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of ITU Radio Regulations and space-radiocommunication services is an advantage
  • Software or web-application-development knowledge is an advantage
  • Advanced degree may substitute for one year of experience; doctorate may substitute for two years
