Job Description

This early-career engineering role develops and validates cryogenic instrumentation for CERN accelerators and supports their reliable operation. It combines research and development with test-bench design, sensor calibration, electronics and data-acquisition work, plus field diagnostics and maintenance across cryogenic plants, technical test facilities and accelerator infrastructure.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop cryogenic instrumentation for pressure, level, temperature and heater measurement
  • Design, qualify and adapt instrumentation for accelerator operating conditions
  • Maintain LabVIEW-based test benches and develop new test facilities
  • Qualify radiation-tolerant electronic cards and calibrate pressure sensors
  • Analyse test data from instrumentation systems
  • Provide diagnostics, maintenance and repair support for cryogenic instrumentation across accelerator facilities

Role Requirements

  • Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of professional experience since graduation or a PhD with a maximum of 3 years of professional experience since graduation
  • Nationality of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State
  • Valid driving licence
  • Spoken and written English or French with a commitment to learn the other language
  • Ability to work in radiation areas and underground installations
