Job Description
Leads planning and delivery of UNDP’s sustainable land-management portfolio in India, supporting biodiversity conservation, land restoration, forestry and wildlife projects. The role directs technical implementation, project monitoring and reporting, partnership and resource-mobilisation efforts, safeguards and knowledge sharing, while coordinating government, UNDP and landscape-level teams to advance land-degradation neutrality.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Lead planning, resource mobilisation and implementation for biodiversity, land-restoration, forestry and wildlife projects
- Develop land-degradation-neutrality strategies, action plans, baselines and assessments
- Supervise landscape teams and coordinate annual workplans with national and state project units
- Monitor project delivery, audits, safeguards, gender action plans and donor reporting
- Build partnerships with government, businesses, NGOs and development partners
- Develop knowledge products, outreach activities and capacity building for project stakeholders
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in Forestry, Agriculture, Ecology, Environmental Science or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree in those fields with two additional years of qualifying experience
- At least five years of relevant experience with a master’s degree, or seven years with a bachelor’s degree
- Experience as a project manager or technical expert on at least two climate-adaptation, biodiversity-conservation, land-restoration or natural-resource-management projects
- Experience managing a team
- Experience mobilising resources for conservation and restoration projects, including public-private co-financing
- Fluency in Hindi and English
Desired Criteria
- Proficiency in MS Office including PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Advanced spreadsheet, database-management and research skills
- Experience working with local communities and villagers
