Job Description

Develops and operates CERN’s next-generation machine-learning platform for training, deploying and managing AI workloads at scale. The engineer builds cloud-native infrastructure for the High-Luminosity LHC, optimises accelerator and cluster resources, strengthens MLOps workflows and provides reference architectures and best practices for scientific users.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop and operate the next-generation machine-learning platform
  • Support model training, hyper-parameter optimisation and serving
  • Manage cluster resources and optimise CPU, GPU and RAM usage
  • Extend cloud-native infrastructure for scheduling, monitoring and accounting
  • Improve MLOps deployment, observability and model lifecycle workflows
  • Produce reference architectures, documentation and best practices
  • Collaborate with CERN groups and external research and industry organisations

Role Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in Computing Engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of machine learning systems and experience deploying and operating services in production environments
  • Spoken and written English
  • Commitment to learn French
  • Candidates who have previously held a CERN staff contract are not eligible
