Job Description
The role designs, deploys and governs artificial intelligence solutions that improve humanitarian coordination, information management and operational decision-making across West and Central Africa. It develops intelligent automation, predictive analytics and generative AI products, integrates them with regional platforms, manages supporting data pipelines and advances responsible digital transformation across OCHA teams.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI and machine-learning models and intelligent automation solutions
- Build predictive analytics, natural-language processing, computer-vision and generative-AI applications
- Integrate AI tools with existing UN digital platforms, regional datasets and operational workflows
- Prepare and manage structured and unstructured datasets and supporting data pipelines
- Develop cloud-based AI infrastructure for operational and programme delivery
- Apply UN data-governance, information-security and responsible-AI standards
- Pilot emerging technologies and recommend strategic applications for humanitarian coordination
- Contribute to the regional AI strategy, roadmap and cross-unit digital-transformation initiatives
Role Requirements
- Minimum two years of progressively responsible experience in AI engineering, machine learning or data science
- Education or specialisation in computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, software engineering, information systems or a related field
- Proficiency in Python, R or a similar programming language
- Experience with Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or another cloud platform
- Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn or another machine-learning framework
- Familiarity with APIs, databases and cloud-native architectures
- Required command of English and French
- Yellow fever vaccination and proof of vaccination for entry
Desired Criteria
- Experience developing AI solutions in international organisations, humanitarian settings or the public sector
- Experience with MLOps and AI deployment frameworks
- Experience using online graphic-design tools such as Canva
- Experience generating video with artificial intelligence
