Job Description
Provides independent technical, analytical and monitoring support for plastic-waste activities under the Basel Convention. The contractor prepares technical analyses, project and meeting documentation, knowledge products and capacity-building materials, and supports technical meetings and assistance activities to strengthen the quality, consistency and effective delivery of the BRS Secretariat’s environmental work.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Provide technical, analytical and monitoring support for Basel Convention plastic-waste activities
- Prepare technical analyses, expert reviews and technical-guidance materials
- Prepare project reports, meeting materials, presentations and correspondence
- Compile and analyse information for project implementation and technical assistance
- Support technical meetings, workshops, webinars and capacity-building activities
- Prepare background documentation, training materials and meeting reports
- Deliver substantive outputs under the supervision of the Senior Programme Management Officer
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in environmental sciences, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, waste management, environmental policy, sustainable development or a related field, or a first-level degree with two additional years of relevant professional experience
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience providing independent technical expertise and analytical support in chemicals, waste management, environmental protection, sustainable development or related fields
- Experience working on chemicals and waste management issues, including plastic waste, circular economy or hazardous chemicals
- Fluency in written and spoken English
Desired Criteria
- Experience supporting multilateral environmental agreements and international environmental processes
- Experience preparing technical reports, project documents, donor reports and communication materials
- Experience organising international meetings, workshops and capacity-building activities
- Experience with the United Nations system or other international organisations
