Job Description

Supports UNEP OzonAction’s implementation of the Montreal Protocol by reviewing ExCom project submissions, managing the AREA Training Manual registration process and analysing Article 5 country compliance data. The consultant also provides secretariat support to the International Network of Women in Cooling, coordinating governance, reporting, communications and programme activities that strengthen ozone and cooling-sector cooperation.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Review ozone-depleting-substance project reports, verification reports and institutional-strengthening proposals
  • Analyse project submissions and recommend improvements to consistency and quality
  • Process training-institution registration applications and maintain programme records
  • Prepare registration statistics, outreach materials and analytical reports for the UNEP-AREA Training Manual
  • Liaise with training institutions, industry associations and National Ozone Units
  • Analyse country data to identify consumption trends, reporting gaps and compliance risks
  • Prepare datasets, briefs and recommendations for OzonAction management and regional teams
  • Coordinate INWIC governance, meetings, reporting, communications and secretariat records

Role Requirements

  • Master's degree in science, environment, engineering, law, business or public policy, or a first-level degree plus two additional years of qualifying experience
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience
  • Proven working knowledge of the Montreal Protocol and ozone-layer protection programmes and projects
  • Fluency in oral and written English

  • Experience with international initiatives and public awareness campaigns
  • Experience in gender equality and women’s empowerment initiatives
  • Knowledge of French
  • Knowledge of Spanish
