Supports UNEP’s Vanishing Treasures project by advancing mountain-biodiversity advocacy, coordinating COP17 and regional dialogue inputs, and developing communication products, consultation materials and project proposals that scale ecosystem and freshwater conservation solutions.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Design thematic Mountain Biodiversity Day sessions with UNEP and partner organisations
  • Develop the detailed run-of-show for Mountain Biodiversity Day
  • Co-organise the Mountain Biodiversity Day event at the CBD COP17 GBF Pavilion
  • Develop governance and stakeholder arrangements for the Yerevan Dialogue on mountain ecosystems and freshwater
  • Prepare background materials for high-level and national consultation meetings
  • Create communication products that raise awareness of Vanishing Treasures achievements
  • Draft project proposals to scale solutions in the Hindu-Kush Himalayas
  • Prepare materials and feedback reporting for regional stakeholder consultations

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in conservation biology, wildlife management, environmental science or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree with two additional years of qualifying relevant work experience
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible project or programme management experience at national or international level
  • Experience in global advocacy and policy mainstreaming on biodiversity-related frameworks
  • Fluency in oral and written English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience supporting or managing biodiversity conservation or ecosystem-restoration projects and events
  • Experience working with the UN or another international development organisation focused on the environment
