Responsibilities
- Review biodiversity, ecosystem, climate and environmental-degradation evidence for Qushtapa
- Design biodiversity and conflict-assessment methodology, sampling and stakeholder engagement
- Conduct field ecological assessments, interviews and community focus groups
- Analyse biodiversity trends, resource scarcity, ecosystem vulnerability and conflict dynamics
- Assess biodiversity benefits, risks and trade-offs of proposed adaptation interventions
- Develop operational recommendations for restoration, soil health, habitats and water management
- Prepare biodiversity baselines, conflict analysis, monitoring frameworks and final reports
- Produce a digital awareness product on biodiversity and ecosystem-based adaptation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, ecology, natural resource management, climate change or a related field
- At least five years of professional experience in biodiversity assessment, ecosystem management or environmental research
- Experience with ecosystem-based adaptation, nature-based solutions, biodiversity or climate-adaptation projects
- Experience conducting field ecological assessments and environmental data analysis
- Experience in fragile, conflict-affected or post-conflict contexts
- Experience designing stakeholder consultations and environmental monitoring frameworks
- Fluency in English and Kurdish
- Availability for field visits to Qushtapa
