Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, implement and monitor regular and extrabudgetary science programmes
  • Build human and institutional capacity across UNESCO science priorities
  • Support Member States in developing and implementing national and regional science policies and programmes
  • Maintain partnerships with authorities, universities, research bodies, UN teams, donors and civil society
  • Identify, design and deliver extrabudgetary projects and mobilise programme resources
  • Contribute to UN country programming and sustainable-development cooperation frameworks
  • Prepare programme, budget, workplan and organisational reporting inputs

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in natural sciences or a related field such as environment, ecology, hydrology, earth sciences, basic sciences or engineering
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience in project and programme implementation
  • At least four years of progressively responsible professional experience in natural sciences
  • Experience planning, designing, managing, implementing and evaluating programmes or projects relevant to UNESCO's mandate
  • Experience in fundraising, resource mobilisation and strategic partnership building
  • Excellent spoken and written English and native Spanish
  • Chilean nationality or permission to work in Chile
