Overview

Leads the International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange programme and IOC data architecture, standards and services. The role manages operations, people and budgets, strengthens Member State data capacity and builds interoperable partnerships that improve access to ocean information.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy, operations and delivery for IOC data architecture and IODE systems
  • Coordinate FAIR ocean-data standards, management and exchange with Member States and international partners
  • Build data-management capacity through national centres, associate units and outreach resources
  • Manage subsection personnel, budgets, project tracking and operational delivery
  • Develop and oversee extrabudgetary proposals and technical implementation
  • Run committee, expert and steering-group meetings and report progress to governing bodies
  • Represent the IODE project office and advise IOC leadership on data standards and exchange

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in data science, information management, computer science, environmental science, oceanography, marine science, geosciences or a related field
  • At least seven years of progressively responsible relevant experience in marine sciences or a related field
  • Experience managing international programmes or projects involving data interoperability, ocean observing or data-policy development
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, fundraising and resource mobilisation
  • Excellent spoken and written English
